CAF Reacts to Ghana’s Draw Against England at 2026 FIFA World Cup

CAF has sent a cheer to Ghana after the Black Stars held England to a 0-0 draw at Boston Stadium in Massachusetts on Tuesday.

Ghana frustrated the Three Lions all night. England had zero shots on target in the first half and did not register one until the 57th minute. The European side looked shaky at the back as Ghana threatened on the counter in an increasingly scrappy contest.

Thomas Tuchel brought on Bukayo Saka, who forced an excellent save from Ghana keeper Benjamin Asare. Substitute Nico O’Reilly then headed against the crossbar; Harry Kane blazed the rebound over, and Marc Guéhi saw a header cleared off the line. Ghana’s best chance came late when Prince Adu looked set to score, only for teammate Antoine Semenyo to inadvertently block the effort after Adu had gone to ground inside the box.

The 0-0 leaves both teams on four points from two Group L matches and gives Ghana a big boost in their bid to reach the knockouts for the first time since 2010 — that run ended in heartbreak after Luis Suarez’s infamous handball, per Yahoo Sports.

CAF saluted Ghana on X: “Ghana march on. Solid point gained. 🇬🇭” “#FIFAWorldCup”

This is Ghana’s fifth World Cup (they missed 2018 after debuting in 2006). Striker Jordan Ayew praised coach Otto Addo’s plan, saying via Al Jazeera: “We stayed humble and defended well. I think our game plan worked. “We defended really, really well. We are playing against one of the teams in the title race. We are doing our best to make our country and ourselves proud.”
