Comedian-turned-actor Basketmouth has a clear message for Nigerians who see themselves as patriots: don’t lose your life for the country.
In a post on his Instagram Story, he said Nigeria is not worth dying for. He added that staying alive matters more than becoming a social media trend. According to him, a person’s life is far more valuable than a hashtag that people will soon forget. He wrote exactly: “Whatever you do in this life, don’t die for Nigeria.
You’re more valuable alive than as a trending hashtag.
A trending hashtag that might possibly last a few days”.
A few days before that, Basketmouth shared a message about being thankful to God. He said waking up healthy and alive is a blessing that many people no longer have. He also warned people not to take everyday gifts, like being able to use every part of their body without pain, for granted.
He also criticised society for giving more attention to failure than success. He accused Nigerian bloggers of making negative stories their top content, while scandals grab headlines and real achievements receive little attention.
The father of three also spoke about his experience in the film industry. He stressed the importance of having a good budget and accused some filmmakers of spending production funds on personal needs. He said he once raised 300 million naira for a movie project within 24 hours and succeeded.
Basketmouth has gradually expanded his career from comedy into filmmaking, where he now produces and stars in his own projects.
