BREAKING: Bandits Behead Abducted Oyo Teacher

A kidnapped teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Michael Oyedokun, has been killed.

A video allegedly released by bandits on Sunday showed Oyedokun being beheaded after he was tied up and forced to speak. The footage, seen by PUNCH on Telegram on Monday, has sparked fear over the safety of the remaining victims still in captivity.

The killing has left the community in mourning, with residents and families urging security agencies and the Oyo State Government to step up rescue efforts before more lives are lost.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday. He said the governor condoled with the victim’s family and promised to use both “kinetic and non-kinetic approaches” to rescue the others.

Olanrewaju also said about six suspects linked to the abduction had been arrested. He added that soldiers, Amotekun operatives and local vigilantes died during the rescue mission after running into Improvised Explosive Devices planted by the kidnappers.

He said injured security personnel were responding to treatment and assured that the government would cover their care.
