Firefighters are at work after a blaze broke out at Bono Energy Terminal in the Coconut area of Apapa, Lagos.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was reported on Friday at the terminal along the Apapa‑Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa. Spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed the incident in a brief message sent to journalists.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” he said.
Details were still sketchy at the time of filing this report. The cause of the fire had also not been ascertained. Emergency officials remained on scene, working to bring the situation under control.
The blaze comes amid rising concern over fire safety at fuel depots, tank farms and other energy facilities in Lagos—especially in high‑risk industrial corridors such as Apapa. Further details are expected from emergency authorities.
