Fresh tragedy hit two Adara communities in Kufana Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State on Thursday night when terrorists attacked Umaso (Rafin Kunu) and Unguwa-Ku villages.
The attackers killed two people, injured four, abducted seven and looted property. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen invaded Umaso (Rafin Kunu) chanting “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire, sending residents fleeing into nearby bushes.
One victim, 23-year-old Luka Aminizeh Alibaba, an orphan, was shot dead. Three others suffered severe gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital. The attackers also abducted seven people: Mrs. Lami Ali, 40; Mrs. Solomi Zachariah, 30; Mrs. Beauty Alpha, 29; Abednego Alpha, 10; Jonah Alpha, 7; Samson Alpha, a six-month-old infant; and one other whose identity was not confirmed at filing.
Residents said the attackers then moved to neighbouring Unguwa-Ku and struck again. There, 25-year-old Manasseh Mathew was seriously wounded and is receiving treatment. His elder brother, 32, was shot dead.
Before fleeing, the assailants reportedly looted food, livestock and other valuables, leaving families devastated. The communities are in mourning, anxiously awaiting news of the abducted.
Speaking for affected families, Mr. Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya condemned the attacks and urged security agencies to rescue the captives and bring perpetrators to justice. He appealed to the Kaduna State Government to strengthen security across Kajuru LGA. Security agencies had not issued an official statement by filing time; efforts to secure the abducted were ongoing.
