Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, has made music history. He is the first African artist to pass 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The 35-year-old Grammy-award-winning star hit the 50 million mark on Monday. That surge was largely driven by his World Cup song with Shakira, “Dai Dai,” which has sat atop the Spotify Global Top Songs chart for days.
“Dai Dai” did more than boost Burna Boy. The track pushed Shakira’s streaming numbers too, giving her 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time in her career. She becomes only the second Latino artist to reach that milestone, after Bad Bunny.
The song’s video also turned heads: it became the first music video in 2026 to pass 300 million views on YouTube. Not a bad run for a single release — and plenty of bragging rights all around.
