Pissa village in Borgu, Niger State, was attacked on the morning of Saturday, June 13, 2026. Armed bandits stormed the community around 9:00 am, killing three people and setting some houses on fire.
State police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said the military moved in and fought the attackers, but the full picture is still unclear. “The report received indicated that suspected bandits invaded Pissa village in Borgu local government area. “Three persons were reportedly killed during the attack, and some houses were set ablaze. “However, the military responded and engaged the terrorists, but further details are still sketchy.”
This incident follows a scare in Minna on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, when pupils hurriedly ended classes and ran home over reports that bandits had invaded schools. Abiodun said police checked the schools mentioned and found no attacks.
In other recent attack, armed bandits kidnapped a traditional ruler, Adeniyi Adelana, in Ondo State. Gunmen shot the monarch’s wife; she is receiving medical treatment, while Police launched a search-and-rescue operation.
