Gunmen have killed Gabriel Nyityo, a History professor at Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM).
Prof. Nyityo was reportedly murdered at his Makurdi home in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The circumstances are still unclear and officials have not issued an official statement.
Initial reports say the assailants attacked the professor while he was asleep. Beyond that, details and the motive remain unknown.
Both the Benue State Police Command and the university management are yet to speak publicly about the case.
