A palliative care doctor has been sentenced to prison in Germany for killing 15 patients.
Delivering the judgment on Wednesday, Judge Sylvia Busch said the conviction for 15 murders could point to other crimes the doctor may have committed.
The doctor, identified only as Johannes M, 41, was found guilty of murdering 12 women and three men.
A court in Berlin ruled that Dr Johannes killed the 12 women and three men between September 2021 and July 2024.
During his trial last month, the doctor admitted to having “killed people”.
He told the court that he ended the lives of his patients to save them from “suffering and infirmity”.
The doctor also said, “Throughout it all, I thought this was the best thing for everyone.”
Prosecutors are now looking into other cases linked to the doctor. They said he injected patients with lethal sedatives and a mix of different medicines without their consent.
After killing the patients, prosecutors said he often started fires to hide what he had done. They also said he killed two patients on the same day in July 2024.
