Troops of Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace rescued three kidnapped victims after a shootout with suspected terrorists during an offensive in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation began at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after credible intelligence spotted armed terrorists escorting kidnapped victims along Aduwa Road. Troops moved quickly to intercept and made contact. The suspects fled into the bush, abandoning the captives when faced with superior firepower.
All three victims were rescued unharmed and later debriefed. Preliminary findings say they had been abducted from Kufayi Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State and were being moved through the Wase axis.

The rescued people were handed over to the appropriate authorities and reunited with their families. Security sources say troops have stepped up efforts to track down and neutralise the fleeing terrorists as part of ongoing operations to dismantle kidnapping networks operating across the Plateau–Taraba border corridor.
