Shakira and Burna Boy set the opening ceremony alight with a high-energy turn on Thursday, June 11, performing their song “Dai Dai” at the 2026 FIFA World Cup kickoff.
Shakira opened her set after J Balvin and launched into the tournament’s official song, showing off her signature dance moves to an excited crowd. Burna Boy soon joined her on stage and the pair kept the buzz going.
They danced through their Afrobeats-inspired track atop an enormous turquoise-and-yellow flag that covered the field and read: “We are ready.” “Dai Dai” is the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 song and also supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to expand access to education worldwide.
The performance ended with both artists at center stage, leading the crowd in the song’s closing refrain: “Dale, allez, let’s go.” Their set was one of the standout moments of the opening ceremony and set the tone for the month-long tournament.
