Woman Found Dead Inside Church Toilet In Calabar

A woman identified as Blessing Ayebe has been found dead inside a church toilet in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

Ayebe reportedly attended a church service at the Presbyterian Church, Ikot Ansa Parish, on June 28 but never made it back home.

Family sources said her body was found in the church toilet at about 9 p.m. on June 29.

Her daughter, Peace Minka Ayebe, reported the case at the Federal Housing Police Station after receiving the news from her brother, Saviour Ayebe.

The body was later taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.

The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, confirmed the incident. He said an initial examination of the body found no visible signs of violence.

Akata also said that as of Sunday, no suspect had been identified or arrested because investigators had not found any evidence of foul play.

“The investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated as they unfold,” Akata said.
