Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has said he is not proud of the primary election that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Dalung made the comment during an interview on a podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, while reacting to the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said the coalition is not dead, but stressed it is not as strong as it was when preparing for the 2027 general elections.
“I’m not proud of the presidential primary that produced Atiku Abubakar because it fell below my expectations. But, of course, that is what we have now, and it is not good enough because I expected that we in the ADC would have done much better than this.
“I was an electoral officer; I witnessed some of these things that happened, and, of course, we should have outgrown them by this stage.
“After 26–27 years of democracy, we should not be talking about rigging of primaries or falsification of results,” he said.
Recall that the ADC recently held its primary election, where Atiku Abubakar emerged as its presidential candidate and flag bearer.
