Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Guga village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least 10 persons during the raid, sources told the Peoples Gazette.
Sources who spoke to the Peoples Gazette on Monday said the assailants stormed the community on Sunday and opened fire on residents.
“The incident happened at about 4 p.m. in Guga as yesterday was the market day of the community,” the source demanded anonymity.
Several traders and residents were in the market when the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and began shooting sporadically, the source added.
“Within the settlement, 10 people were killed. They rustled many castles and livestock. They also injured some people while some were transferred to Funtua Hospital,” the source said.
He added that the gunmen also burnt several houses during the attack, noting that no abduction was recorded.
