Barcelona Clinch LaLiga Title with Win Over Real Madrid

Barcelona secured consecutive La Liga titles after a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in El Clásico, extending their lead to 14 points with three matches remaining.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a spectacular free-kick, and Ferran Torres added a second as the hosts sealed their 29th league crown at the Nou Camp. Both players dedicated their goals to head coach Hansi Flick, sprinting to embrace the German manager after the club announced the recent death of his father shortly before kick-off. Flick remained on the touchline throughout the emotional evening.

Two early strikes were enough to clinch the championship, in what is only the second time an El Clásico result has directly decided the La Liga title. The only previous instance came in 1932, when a 2-2 draw handed Real Madrid the trophy.

After a three-year gap without the title, Barcelona have now lifted La Liga in three of the last four seasons. Flick, who succeeded Xavi Hernández in 2024 following successful spells with Bayern Munich and the German national team, has now led the club to league triumphs in both of his seasons in charge.

The victory takes Barcelona’s total to 29 La Liga championships, second to Real Madrid’s 36, with Atlético Madrid third on 11. Under Flick, Barcelona have now collected five trophies, including two Spanish Supercopas and last season’s Copa del Rey.
