Borno Senator Gives N135m to APC Executives for Sallah Celebrations

Senator representing Borno Central, Kaka Lawan, has shared ₦135.65 million with All Progressives Congress executives in his constituency ahead of Eid-el-Kabir.

In a Facebook post on Friday, his legislative aide, Usman Alkali, said it was the third time the senator had made the donation since joining the National Assembly.

The post, originally written in Hausa and translated, stated: “Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan shares ₦135,650,000 to APC executives in Borno Central for Eid al-Kabir celebration.”

Alkali said the cash was distributed on Thursday to party officials across Borno Central to support their Sallah preparations.

“Senator representing Borno Central, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), on Thursday distributed cash to APC executives in his Borno Central constituency, totalling ₦135,650,000 to help them celebrate the upcoming Eid-Kabir festival,” he said.

He added, “This is the third time the Senator has given such a donation since becoming a member of the National Assembly.”

According to Alkali, the move was meant to appreciate party executives for their loyalty and role in strengthening democracy.

Meanwhile, Lawan has already stepped down from the Borno governorship race and endorsed Mustapha Gubio, the candidate backed by Governor Babagana Zulum.

Alkali said the decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where it was agreed that Lawan would support Gubio and remain in the Senate.
