Cubana Chiefpriest Breaks Silence, Reveals Hidden Drama Behind His Failed House of Reps Bid

Socialite and businessman Cubana Chiefpriest has pushed back after online reports said he lost the APC primary for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal seat to incumbent Canice Moore Nwachukwu.

The story first surfaced on Saturday, May 16. But in a long Instagram post on Sunday, May 17, Chiefpriest said he did not actively take part in the primary.

He says party leaders had already discussed his ambition internally, and after a chat with Imo governor Hope Uzodimma he learned about the APC’s zoning plan. The governor told him it wasn’t his local government’s turn and that the current lawmaker should serve another term. So, Chiefpriest says, he stepped back.

“Nobody will say they saw me anywhere around the primaries venue. Immediately the party’s decision was communicated to me in the early hours of Saturday before the primaries, I stayed away completely in respect of the leadership and the internal understanding reached.”

He also denied stories that he spent heavily or went into debt over the bid, saying his run came from a personal wish to serve because he felt the constituency wasn’t well represented. He’s proud his movement raised political awareness and slammed people using his name online for “cruise.”

“It is only a big name that attracts attention,” he added.

Chiefpriest used the moment to declare loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu, saying his support for the Renewed Hope agenda remains “absolute and unwavering.” He told his City Boy Movement to stay calm and promised more grassroots activity soon.
