FA Cup: How Much Man City Made After Defeating Chelsea to Lift the Trophy

Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley to lift the 2025/26 FA Cup, and they did it in tidy fashion on a sunny afternoon.

The first half was a stalemate as both teams battled with no breakthrough. Then Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with a fine strike that Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez could not stop. Cue big celebrations for the Citizens.

City ended a mini hoodoo of two straight FA Cup final defeats — they had lost to Manchester United and Crystal Palace in the last two finals. For the world champions, the defeat extended their run of consecutive final losses at Wembley to seven, starting from the 2019 Carabao Cup final loss to City.

And yes, there was prize money. As confirmed by The FA, both teams arrived in the final with £2,024,500 each after winning five matches to get there. Pep Guardiola’s side picked up an extra £2,120,000 for the win, while runners-up Chelsea received an extra £1,060,000. That means Manchester City earned £4,144,500 in total, and Chelsea pocketed £3,084,500, sums accumulated from the third-round winnings.
