Nigerian skit maker Oderohiwo Joseph Efe, better known as Carter Efe, is facing possible legal trouble after Babcock University threatened legal action over a certificate linked to him.
After rapper Ycee’s viral comment about an Olodo Uprising in Nigeria, Carter Efe claimed during a livestream that Babcock University had given him an honorary certificate.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram page, the university dismissed the certificate circulating online, calling it fake.
Babcock said the supposed “Honorary Certificate” claiming to award Carter Efe “First Class Upper” was not issued by the institution.
The university explained that it does not award honorary certificates for undergraduate academic performance. It also stated that it has no degree classification known as “First Class Upper,” adding that its highest academic qualification is First Class Honours.
Babcock urged the public, employers and other institutions to ignore the document and verify academic credentials through the Office of the Registrar.
