Oshiomhole Blasts Akpabio, Alleges Ex-NNPC Boss Employed Senate President’s Daughter

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of having a personal interest in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and of staffing it with favoured people.

Oshiomhole said former NNPC CEO Mele Kyari employed Akpabio’s daughter in “a juicy position she probably didn’t merit.” He made the claim while reacting to the Senate’s decision to disown an arrest warrant for Kyari. The APC lawmaker for Edo North in the 10th National Assembly said the Senate had no business apologising for him — he, not the Senate, called NNPC staff thieves.

Speaking on Seun Okinbaloye’s political podcast “Mic On” on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Oshiomhole said there are moves to demarket him ahead of the next Senate Presidency race. He accused Akpabio of trying to destroy his image and lock him out of the Senate.

“If Akpabio has his way, he would lock me out of the Senate because he has misled himself into thinking that I’m probably the devil he knows.

“However, there are many agents he doesn’t know, and the 11th Senate will not be the 10th Senate. Senators are grovelling about his style of leadership.”

Oshiomhole also predicted that the 2027 election poses no real challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, criticised Peter Gregory Obi’s handling of Anambra security, and forecast a Tinubu landslide.
