Terrorists have reportedly killed two people and kidnapped at least five others in a fresh attack on the Okoloke–Isanlu Esa road in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Community sources told SaharaReporters that the attack happened on Tuesday morning when heavily armed gunmen ambushed travellers, causing panic among residents and commuters.
According to the sources, two victims were confirmed dead, while no fewer than five others were taken away by the attackers to an unknown location.
“The attack happened this morning. So far, two people have been confirmed killed and about five others were kidnapped. Some people are still unaccounted for, and families are searching for their loved ones,” a community source told SaharaReporters.
Residents said the incident has deepened fears in the area, where kidnappings and attacks by armed groups have become a regular security concern.
The Okoloke–Isanlu Esa road serves as a major link between several communities in Yagba West. Commuters have repeatedly raised concerns over insecurity and the activities of kidnappers operating from nearby forests.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives had reportedly been alerted and were mobilising to the scene. However, details of any rescue effort remained unclear.
The latest attack has added to concerns over ongoing insecurity in parts of Kogi State, with residents continuing to call for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
