Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, says he knows which politicians are backing the kidnappers who seized pupils and teachers in Oyo State — and he’s threatening to name them if the attacks don’t stop.
Igboho made the claim while receiving newly elected NANS leaders, led by Akinteye Babatunde, at his Ibadan home. He said he even offered to lead a rescue into the kidnappers’ hideouts, but the Oyo State Government turned him down.
“I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all. I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” he said.
He added the unrest is part of a plot to make life hard for President Bola Tinubu. “The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President,” he said.
On the rescue offer he said: “If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so that they could be dislodged,” he stated. But, he claims, “Later, they (Oyo government) informed me that the kidnappers said if I try to force myself to come rescue the children, they will kill them all,” he said.
The May 15 attack hit three schools in Oriire LGA — Baptist Nursery and Primary, Yawota; Community Grammar, Esiele; and L.A. Primary — and abducted dozens. One victim, teacher Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed. Igboho also says his Iru Ekun security network was cleared by the Federal Government but blocked by the state: “After I arranged ‘Iru Ekun’ security network, the Federal Government permitted me, but the state government said no security must take a step behind them,” he said.
Tension remains high as security agencies hunt in nearby forests.
