Nollywood actor Emeka Ike says he felt insecure for the first time in his life after his data at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was exposed.
Speaking on News Central Television, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives aspirant called the FCT data leak “an abuse of power.” He also confirmed he has started legal action against Lere Olayinka, the media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
“I felt insecure. For the first time, I’m feeling like, ‘Is anybody saving this country anymore?’”
“It was shocking. It was so disturbing that I felt unsafe. Like that kind of feeling, that’s what it was like to me, like it’s an abuse of power.
“This is the extreme to radicalism. Political radicalism is basically telling Nigerians that ‘we are in charge’.”
“Obviously, I will go to court, and my lawyer has already already written to Lere and INEC. He has also written my party, the DSS and the police so that it can be on record that stuff like this has happened in Nigeria,” he said.
Ike’s comments add fresh heat to the row over the FCT leak, and he says he’s taking the matter to the courts and security agencies to make it official.
