Days After Husband’s Death in Kidnappers’ Den, Widow of Gen Rabe Abubakar Rescued

In a welcome development amid the ongoing insecurity crisis, security forces have rescued the widow of late Major General Rabe Abubakar.

According to Channels Television, she was found alive but injured and is currently receiving medical treatment. A video shared in the report shows her lying inside a vehicle, surrounded by military personnel. She appeared weak as she received attention from those around her.

The rescue comes after the killing of her husband, a former military spokesperson, a tragedy that shocked many Nigerians. Her abduction had added even more pain to an already heartbreaking story.

Details surrounding the operation remain unclear, as information on how and where she was rescued has not yet been fully disclosed. Still, the news has brought some relief to many Nigerians who have become used to reports of kidnappings and other security challenges.

Many now hope the rescue will lead to stronger action by authorities to secure the freedom of other victims still being held captive, including the schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State.
