Abia Police Destroy Criminal Camp In Unuobasi Forest

Abia police say they have found and destroyed a suspected criminal camp in the state — and warned there is nowhere for wrongdoers to hide.

In a Thursday statement, DSP Maureen Chinaka, speaking for Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa, said the command used actionable intelligence to pinpoint and dismantle a suspected camp inside Unuobasi Forest in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

“Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit of the Command, in collaboration with the local security outfit in Umuobasi, carried out the operation on Sunday, 28/06/2026, leading to the destruction of the criminal camp and the disruption of criminal activities in the area. Monitoring of the area is still ongoing”, the statement partly read.

The commissioner also told residents bluntly that “there will be no hiding place for criminals within the state.” He repeated the command’s pledge to stick to its constitutional job of preventing crime and arresting suspects.

The police urged that they will keep taking the fight into criminals’ enclaves, and reminded the public to act as partners in safety by reporting security worries, suspicious people or activities to the nearest police station.
