Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin from Ekiti State has emerged as the top scorer in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), scoring 372 out of 400.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday during the 2026 admission policy meeting, JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede said Jesudunsin sat for the exam in Ogun State and picked the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as her first choice to study Medicine and Surgery.
Oloyede noted that her score is three points lower than the 375 recorded in 2025 by Chinedu Okeke from Anambra State.
Ikenna Enwere from Imo State came second with 370 marks after sitting for the exam in Lagos. He chose Nile University, Abuja, to study Computer Science.
Ayomide Bamisile from Ondo State followed with 369 marks and selected the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) to study Software Engineering.
Oloyede also revealed that JAMB will introduce the “Bring your own device” option for UTME candidates from 2027. He said candidates would be allowed to use personal devices, while a flash drive would be inserted to stop examination malpractice.
He added that the move would reduce costs, make the process easier and solve complaints about computers shutting down during exams.
The board also fixed deadlines for 2026 admissions. Public universities must finish admissions by October 31, private universities by November 30, while polytechnics and colleges of education are expected to conclude admissions by December 31, 2026.
